'JUST LEFT AT THE GATE'

Artefacts have their own stories to tell, and research yields new discoveries about their secrets. This small exhibition highlights how artefacts provide connections to the past. See the likes of the calling cards tied into afternoon teas, an insulator cup and the distribution of electricity and telephone to the community, and photographs capturing of images and events of the past.

These are just some of the many items held in the museum through donations from the community or as sometimes in the past ‘just left at the gate’.

Do you have something that may relate to the local area and tells a story. When that clean up times comes think of the museum, you never know it may find a new home and contribute to the story telling of the past for future generations.

Our aim is to collect, conserve, and hold in trust items of historical significance. We research, exhibit and interpret artefacts, documents, records and other memorabilia which relate either directly or indirectly to the life and times of the community of East Gippsland.
